Auckland Conversion Workshop

Bring us your van — drive away a fully-fledged self-contained camper.

Bought your own vehicle? Great. We'll transform any van — small, mid-size or large — into a proper camper, built by hand at our Auckland yard and self-contained certified with the green sticker so you can freedom-camp legally across New Zealand.

Full self-contained conversion

Fresh water, grey water, sealed toilet, sink, cooker, fridge, bed platform, timber ceiling. Built to pass green-sticker certification, and we handle the inspection.

Custom fit-out to your spec

Weekend surf-wagon, long-haul tourer, dog-friendly setup, work-from-van build. Tell us how you'll use it and we'll design the layout around that.

Any make, any size

Toyota Hiace, Nissan NV200, Ford Transit Custom, VW Transporter, Mercedes Sprinter, Hyundai iLoad, Renault Trafic — small vans to big vans, we've done them.

How the conversion works

  1. 01
    Chat

Message on WhatsApp with your van's make, model, year and what you want to use it for.

  2. 02
    Design & quote

We map out a layout, list the add-ons you want, and quote a fixed price.

  3. 03
    Build

You drop the van at our Auckland yard. We build it — timber ceiling, kitchen, bed, water, power.

  4. 04
    Certify & drive

We book the self-containment inspection, stick the green sticker on and hand you the keys.

Optional Extras

Add-ons for any camper

Everything below can be fitted to a van we've built you or to a van you already own. Mix and match — most add-ons are installed in a day or two.

Solar panels

Roof-mounted solar to keep the fridge cold and phones charged off-grid — sized to your battery and use.

Second / lithium house battery

Deep-cycle or lithium auxiliary battery with DC-DC charger so you can run lights, fridge and USB overnight without draining the starter.

Apple CarPlay head-unit

Modern touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto — Google Maps, Spotify and calls from your phone.

Reversing camera

Wired-in reversing camera on the head-unit — makes parking a big van dramatically easier.

Inverter (240V power)

Pure-sine inverter so you can plug in laptops, camera chargers and small kitchen gear off the house battery.

USB & 12V outlets

Extra USB-C, USB-A and 12V sockets wired around the bed and kitchen so charging isn't a hassle.

Insulation & carpet lining

Wall and ceiling insulation with carpet or vinyl lining — quieter, warmer, and looks properly finished.

Diesel heater

Small diesel heater for shoulder-season and South Island trips — safe, dry heat that runs off your fuel tank.

Want something not on the list? Ask us — if it's van-related, we've probably fitted it.

Self-Contained Certified

The green sticker, sorted for you.

New Zealand's self-containment standard requires fresh water, grey water, a sealed toilet, sink and rubbish bin — all installed to spec. Every conversion we do is designed around it, and we book and pass the inspection on your behalf so you drive away legally freedom-camping-ready.

  • Fresh & grey water tanks correctly plumbed
  • Sealed cassette or portable toilet
  • Sink with tap and drainage
  • Rubbish bin with lid
  • Full inspection booked and passed for you

Common questions

Can you convert any van into a self-contained camper?

Yes — small vans like the Toyota Hiace, Nissan NV200 and Ford Transit Custom through to bigger vans like the Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit and Hyundai iLoad. Bring us the vehicle and we'll build it out.

How long does a full conversion take?

A standard self-contained fit-out is usually 2–4 weeks from the van dropping off to the green sticker being applied, depending on how custom the layout is and what add-ons you choose.

Can I add solar or Apple CarPlay to a van I already own — without a full conversion?

Yes. All of our add-ons can be booked as standalone jobs, whether you bought the van from us or somewhere else.

Do you offer any warranty on the conversion work?

Yes — the fit-out and installed add-ons are covered for one month after handover, and Jacob is on WhatsApp directly for anything after that.

Ready to convert your van?

Message Jacob on WhatsApp with your van's make, model and year and what you want out of it. You'll get a real answer, a rough price, and honest advice — usually same day.
